Arena Animation Academy Specialist Programme (AAASP)
Arena's flagship AAASP course is a 31-month, five-semester, 3D animation career-oriented programme. Classes are typically held 3 times a week for about 90 minutes per session. Only those who have completed Class 12 are eligible to apply.
Some of the key features of AAASP are:
- Laddered learning: Learn animation in increasing order of complexity

Each student has to make a portfolio every semester based on what he/ she has learnt that semester. This portfolio is a requirement for successful completion of AAASP and also comes in handy at the time of placements.
The course includes value additions in the form of communication and personality development sessions. Also, AAASP teaches upgraded versions of the relevant software.

AAASP semesters:


Graphics & Illustration Suite
Overview: In this semester, the student learns sketching and graphic skills including digital graphics skills.
Modules:
- Fundamentals of computers, multimedia and internet
- Concepts of graphics and illustration
- Basic art
- Creating illustrations
Project: Project in graphics and illustration.
Career options at end of this semester: Graphics designer, illustrator, visualiser and in-between artist




2D Design & Animation Suite
Overview: The second semester enhances skills in anatomy study, storyboarding, 2 D animation, audio and video editing. The student learns of create effective multimedia productions.
Modules:
- Anatomy study
- Concepts of 2 D animation
- Concepts of Storyboarding
- Storyboarding with ToonBoon Storyboard
- Working with audio
- Video streaming and editing
Project: Project in 2D animation.
Career options at end of this semester: Multimedia programmer, audio or video editor.




3D Animation Suite
Overview: Here, Students learn to visualise and create 3 D animation and apply special effects.
Modules:
- Concepts of 3D animation
- Modeling with 3D
- Lights, camera and animation
- Painting 3D objects
- Character animation in visual FX
Project: 3D animation project.
Career options at end of this semester: 3D animator, visual effects artist.




Advance 3D Animation Suite
Overview: Semester 4 covers high-end (advanced) 3D character animation. The student develops skills in visualizing and 3D animation through the use of modeling, texture and lighting, charter animation, and paints, effects and dynamics all through the Maya 8.5 software. The student eve learns morphing and warping as an add-on during this semester.

- Paints, effects and dynamics using Maya
Project: Character animation.
Career options at end of this semester: Art director, visualiser, charter developer, 3D animator, special effects artist, storyboard designer, flash developer, compositor.




Specialization in character Animation & Digital Portfolio Development Suite
Overview: Here, the student learns rigging and becomes proficient in creating animation. He also prepares a demo reel of his project work and gets training from Arena to prepare him/her for job interviews.
Modules:
- Concepts of rigging
- Character animation with Motion Builder
- Communication and personality development
Project: Portfolio development with demo reel.
Career options at end of AAASP: Once a student is awarded the AAASP diploma, he/she gets the opportunity to work in a variety of fields including entertainment, e- learning, web designing, gaming, publishing, etc.


Diploma in Animation Engineering (DAE)
The 20-month DAE is an intensive, high-end programme in 2D and 3D animation over 5 semesters. Typically, classes are held 6 days a week for about 4 hours each day.
Unlike AAASP, AMSP and the other programmes from Arena which are typically held on 3 days a week for about 90 minutes per session, DAE is similar to a full-time course. Only students who have an aptitude for creativity/ animation and who wish to become animation professionals are admitted. Minimum eligibility is 12th.
DAE is a pure animation course without any coverage of multimedia or basic graphics concepts. The attempt is to go into various animation topics in depth and also to give more practice/ assignments to students so that they can gain mastery in animation.
In order to ensure that the student emerges as a complete animation professional with knowledge of every minute aspect, DAE has some value additions in each semester. These include modules on photographic techniques, scriptwriting, concepts of animatics and clean-up, and even puppet-making.

DAE semesters:


Fine Art, Visual Design & Creative Animation
Overview: Intensive training on developing creativity and drawing skills across a spectrum of modern media. The semester combines formal aspects of 2 D animation and color theory with hands-on design work, presentation and critique.
Career options: Visualiser, illustrator, graphic designer.




Cel & Digital Animation
Overview: This semester concentrates on life drawing, animation, effects in animation and animation assisting. The focus is on the art of animating characters, thoughts and emotions through principles of acting. The student will become a full-fledged 2D animator with working knowledge of all the departments and processes of a 2D studio.
Career options: Multimedia programmer, audio and video editor.




2D Animation show Reel
Overview: Students apply their knowledge of storyboarding, sketching, drawing, key framing, in between, clean up, line testing, ink and paint, adding dialogues and digital editing to create a short animated film in a crew setting. Students develop their confidence. i.e., grow as digital 2D animators and can choose an are of specialization to work in.
Career options: 2D animator. Storyboard artist, multimedia programmer, video editor.




3D Animation & Visual FX
Overview: The student effectively uses the knowledge gained in earlier semester to develop advanced 3D animation skills. Alongside traditional subjects learn fundamentals of computer animation, including the operating environment and process of 3Danimation. In depth study of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation and visual effects using high-end 3D animation and post- production software is included. Students gain proficiency in animation, interactive game design, product design, architectural design and various other avenues of 3D animation and digital video production. Learning puppet making makes for a very interesting add on to this semester.
Career options: 3D animator, clay animator, post- production artist.




3D Animation show Reel
Overview: This semester involves external supervisions from the industry. Under the supervision if these mentors, the students create a final portfolio project. Students follow a production schedule and deliver deadlines as in a commercial production environment. They need to submit a project which is a final demo reel this viewed and critiqued by industry experts. This semester demonstrates all the key a\skills the student has learnt through the creation of a full-fledged 3D animation film with a storyline.
Career options: Apart from those mentioned above, the student can become a director for 3D animation.


Arena Multimedia Specialist Programme (AMSP)
Arena's AMSP is a 32-month career course spread over five semesters. Only those who have completed class 12 are eligible to apply.
AMSP is a versatile course covering the basics of multimedia and animation, as also web designing and gaming. Evolved concepts like art direction, scripting, art of animation as well as a good amount of real project experience are also included. In AMSP, there is a good balance between creative courses and teaching the latest software. This creates a harmony between technology and creativity.

Graphics Suite
Overview: Students learn to visualise, create digital graphics and hone their skills in editing and optimizing graphics across a range of industries like web, print, digital printing, broadcast media and adverting.
Project: Project in print and publishing.
Career options: Graphic designer, Page layout designer, visualiser, image editor.




Interactive Multimedia Suite
Overview: Students learn to write storyboards, develop streaming audio, record and edit audio files. On video, they learn to create video content, produce streaming video for the web and., enrich video content by applying effects and prepare it for post- production. They learn how to make CBTD and put them on the web.
Project: Project in CBT development (e - learning)/ multimedia application.
Career options: Sound editor, CBT developer, film editor, scriptwriter.




Animation Suite
Overview: Here, students learn to develop broadcast- quality animation and specialize in post- production and special effects. The value addition at this stage is the creation of walk- through virtual reality.
Project: In 3d modeling, animation and visual FX.
Career options: 3D animator, special effects designer.




Web Designing and Games Development Suite
Overview: In this semester, students learn to design rich, interactive websites and also to host and maintain websites. They even learn to design and develop games as well as the develop 3D on the web.
Project: On games or website design.
Career options: Web designer, 2D web animator, web developer, games developer, games designer.




Digital Portfolio Development Suite
Overview: In this last semester, students learn to plan, develop and implement projects. Apart from this, communication skills and personality development are also included so as to enable students to step int the industry with ease.
Project: Student develops a digital portfolio.
Career options: Instructional designer, Project manager, multimedia professional.
